Brian Watts

Director of Golf

We are excited to welcome our new Director of Golf, Mr. Brian Watts. Brian is a former PGA TOUR player with extensive knowledge of the game, bringing a wealth of experience to Diamante. A standout at Oklahoma State University, he turned pro in 1988 and found notable success on the Japan Golf Tour, winning 12 titles. Watts gained international recognition at the 1998 Open Championship, finishing runner-up after a playoff. Renowned for his precise short game, he remains a prominent figure in golf, celebrated for his achievements across global circuits.

Christian Cazares

Head Golf Professional, Dunes

Christian Cázares joins Diamante Cabo San Lucas as the Head Professional of Dunes golf course. Born and raised in Baja, Christian’s passion for golf began as a young greens keeper, sparking a career that has now spanned over almost two decades in the golf industry. With his most recent position of Golf Operations and Project Manager at Costa Palmas, Christian brings a deep knowledge of the game and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing his expertise with players of all skill levels.

When he’s not on the course, Christian enjoys spending time with his son, off-road racing, and deep-sea fishing adventures. Christian looks forward to contributing to the dynamic golf culture at Diamante and creating exceptional experiences for all Homeowners and Members at Dunes.

 

Armando Galvan Garcia

Assistant Golf Professional, Dunes

Born in Colima, Mexico, Armando Galvan Garcia is a dedicated golf professional with over two decades of experience in the sport. Starting his career at 17 as a driving range assistant, he quickly advanced to become a caddie and later achieved the esteemed role of golf professional at Isla Navidad Country Club.

Armando’s career in golf reflects his belief in the sport’s life lessons: the value of honesty, perseverance, and the understanding that every decision shapes one’s path.

Mauricio Gonzales

Head Golf Professional, El Cardonal

Born and raised in Mexico City, Mauricio’s love for golf began early, starting his career as a junior golfer representing the Mexican National Team with a top 15 global ranking. Mauricio Gonzalez is a bilingual golf professional with a career spanning more than 25 years across Mexico, London, and Switzerland.

His academic journey took him to Middlesex University in London, where he earned a degree in Recording Arts, blending creative thinking with his passion for sports. As the Head Professional at El Cardonal, Mauricio focuses on fostering relationships, advancing the game, and creating exceptional experiences.

 Beyond golf, Mauricio’s diverse ventures have included running a biomaterials business, managing agricultural operations, and designing innovative storage solutions. Across all his roles, his dedication to understanding people’s needs and creating value has been a consistent thread.

Alejandro Godina

Assistant Golf Professional, El Cardonal

Alejandro was born in Cabo San Lucas and holds a degree in Tourism Business Administration. He joined Diamante on February 1, 2024, as a service assistant. What he enjoys most about working at Diamante is being able to provide players with his services, ensuring they have an excellent experience of what golf is all about.

Federico Cervantes

Assistant Golf Professional, El Cardonal

After studying biotechnology in Guadalajara, Federico was drawn back to his hometown of Cabo San Lucas. He believes a higher power led him to Diamante and is incredibly grateful for his happiness. Federico’s positive impact is celebrated by his colleagues and Members alike. He’s the first in and last out – always with a smile on his face. In his free time, he enjoys writing short stories.
