In 2013, Chef Israel and our Director of Grounds, Bill Ousterhaut designed and planted a small herb garden just outside of Izzy’s Restaurant on the Sunset Terrace to grow hard-to-find herbs here in the Baja Peninsula. Every morning Chef walked the garden to see what is available to harvest to be implemented in his daily menus. With the quick success of that herb garden, Chef Izzy and Bill O. quickly decided to clear a larger four-acre plot and plant a more robust list of herbs, fruits and vegetables that now support the entire property. Currently you will find basil, sage, oregano, thyme, chives, mint, lemongrass, rosemary and plenty of assorted Lettuce Leaves.
